Archives to Liberation

For far too long, resistance has been an unavoidable part of our lives as people of African heritage. So much so that it has become fashionable to remember our experience in terms of struggle. This is not that kind of project.

We want to celebrate resistance to the oppressions we have faced, but It is more important that we can learn the lessons of the struggle and avoid repeating past mistakes.

The project we are engaged in with Decolonising the Archive is a bilateral and intercontinental project focused on our future as Africans at home and in the diaspora. It is about revisiting archive collections as part of a process of strategic self development.
