GALLERY: Dr Death and the TRC

Dubbed "Dr Death" by the media, Wouter Basson was controversially granted amnesty by the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 2002, escaping multiple charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and other charges including drug possession, drug trafficking, fraud, embezzlement and theft. 

However in 2013 he was found guilty by the Professional Conduct Committee of the Health Professions Council of South Africa for unprofessional / unethical conduct during his time as the head of the South African Defence Force’s (SADFs) apartheid Chemical and Biological Warfare Programme. Basson is now due to be sentenced at a hearing scheduled for 5 - 6 June 2014 - please support the following initiatives to ensure that he is unable to practice medicine again.
