The Right2Know campaign has released a press statement inviting its supporters and members of the public to a night vigil.
The night vigil will be held in protest of the Secrecy Bill, which the campaign is opposed to in its current form. The campaign views the Bill as a threat to South Africa's democracy and vows to continue its campaign to "stop the Secrecy Bill as the ANC pushes it through the NCOP and National Assembly."
Furthermore, R2K argues that if the Bill were to be passed, it would stifle the citizen's right of access to information, which is an important tool in a democracy because it is an enabling right.
