Access to Security Police files in question again
SAHA has been refused access to a listing of security police files held by the National Archives on the basis that disclosure will breach the privacy rights of third parties. The refusal, and the attitude of the National Archivist as we shall detail in the attached update, raises fresh concerns about the retention of apartheid era records, and more particularly, about the destruction and concealment of information about one of the key agencies involved in the perpetration of human rights violations by the apartheid government.
