This is part ten of the Security Legislation Directorate (SLD) file (file number 2/4/2/121) on the United Democratic Front (UDF) in terms of internal security: control of organisations. The opening and closing dates for the file are not recorded. It contains among others correspondence and documents of the Directorate of Security Legislation, the South African Police (SAP) and the Bureau of Information on the subject of the activities of the Friends of the UDF (FOU), including the FOU constitution and a memorandum and SAP security report on FOU; UDF finance and funding, and the Affected Organisations Act, 1974 (Act 31 of 1974). Included are an evaluation of the security actions taken against the UDF; a memorandum on the current organisational status of the UDF's white political affiliates; UDF (Natal) financial statements at 31 January 1986 and auditor's report, and a report regarding UDF activities and the use of foreign funding for its activities. The documents date between 1986 and 1990. All the documents are photocopies. These copies were released by the National Archives in respect of PAIA request number 2011-0127-NAR. |
