This is part three of the Security Legislation Directorate (SLD) file (file number 2/4/2/121) on the United Democratic Front (UDF) in terms of internal security: control of organisations. This file was opened on 15 November 1984 and closed on 14 May 1985 and contains among others correspondence of the South African Police and the Directorate of Security Legislation on the subject of discussions between the United Democratic Front (UDF) and delegates of the Commonwealth, including a report on the discussions by Trevor Manuel, as well as correspondence regarding internal security legislation of 1982 (a copy of the Internal Security Act (Act 74 of 1982) is included), and the consideration for the appointment of advice committees, also on the UDF constitution (copy of the constitution is included) and UDF pamphlets; summary on the activities of the UDF; UDF pamphlet 'National General Council: from protest to challenge'; Secretarial report to the first annual national conference of the UDF; UDF resolutions; 'The UDF One Million Signature Campaign: an organiser's handbook'; a radio interview transcript, and newspaper clippings. The documents are dated between 1984 and 1986. All the documents are photocopies. These copies were released by the National Archives in respect of PAIA request number 2011-0127-NAR. |
