The materials in this series are in digital format only and document to some extent Julie Frederikse's early career as journalist. She served as southern Africa correspondent for US Public Broadcasting’s National Public Radio and reported for BBC Africa, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Radio Nederland, based in Johannesburg and Harare.
This series consists of research materials, interview schedules, correspondence with publishers and book reviews in relation to Frederikse's books "None But Ourselves (NBO): masses vs. media in the making of Zimbabwe"(1982), "South Africa: A different kind of war: from Soweto to Pretoria" (1986) and "The unbreakable thread: non-racialism in South Africa" (1990). Also included in this series are press passes, permits, photographs and newspaper clippings that relate to Frederikse's time as correspondent in the late 1970s to the mid-1980s.
These materials were provided by Julie Frederikse to SAHA on loan from her personal archive to be digitised for inclusion in SAHA's digital repository on non-racialism in 2015. |
