Description: This poster is an offset litho in maroon, cream and black, produced by Thami Mnyele and Gordon Metz and issued by the National Museum and Art Gallery in Gaborone, Botswana in 1982 for the Culture and Resistance Symposium. The image depicts an artist walking a tightrope between the struggling black community and the white suburbs. The text reads “ART TOWARD SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT”Digitised by Specialised Archival Solutions in 2009. Reproduced in "Images of Defiance: South African Resistance posters in the 1980s" on page 7 (number 10) of the 1991 SAHA / Ravan Press edition and the 2004 SAHA / STE Publishers edition. It also appears on page 14 and 104 of “Red on Black: The Story of the South African Poster Movement”, SAHA / STE Publishers, 2007
